(More customer reviews)Nobody loves meat, dairy, bread and pastas more than I do, but yes, I saw the Oprah show about veganism and was surprised at how many people on the show found that it was easy to do and tasty. After my first three days on these recipes, I went down a pants size, haven't been hungry, and feel less achy and well, old! I'm having fun working my way through these recipes, and I am one who has never particularly liked cooking or been great in the kitchen. The food is affordable and the ingredients mostly are readily available; however, if you don't have a better supermarket, Whole Foods, Fairway, Trader Joe's or some place like that near you you may have to be creative and substitute things here and there. There is plenty of leeway in the recipes for that, as well as for your own tastes. This is not a big book, but it's as much of a how-to-manage-your-weekly-menu handbook, and a what-does-what guide to spices as it is a catalog of recipes. I love that there is no soy in the recipes, which thanks to the GMO thing, can mess with your hormones. So far, I highly recommend the Aloo Gobi and the Creole Collards.
Here's hoping Ms. Thandiwe writes more cookbooks. She's excellent!
